NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police have confirmed that three people were found dead inside a home in the Churchville area of Bucks County on Monday afternoon, January 26, following a response to a wellness check, authorities say.
Officials with the Northampton Township Police Department were called to a residence on Heather Road near Second Street Pike shortly after 2:15 p.m. to check on the welfare of a resident after family members reported they had not heard from them in several days.
When officers arrived, they encountered a man inside the home who was armed with a knife. Responding teams, including the South Central Emergency Response Team, were able to safely take the man into custody after an extended standoff. Law enforcement says this was an isolated incident and there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
After the suspect was taken into custody, police entered the home and found three deceased individuals inside. At this time, authorities have not released the identities of the people who died or details about what led to their deaths.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and local detectives are continuing the investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case. Officials ask anyone with information to contact law enforcement as the inquiry continues.
