PENN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — One person has died following a motorcycle crash that occurred in Lancaster County on Sunday, according to local authorities. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of the collision at the intersection of South Oak Street and Fruitville Pike in Penn Township around 5:40 p.m. Upon arrival, responders found a motorcycle and a sedan that had been involved in a serious crash.
Northern Lancaster County Regional Police confirmed that the crash involved a motorcycle and a sedan. Witnesses living nearby told News 8 that they saw the motorcycle lying on the ground close to the street and observed significant damage to the front of the sedan. They also reported seeing two individuals, believed to have been on the motorcycle, lying on the ground following the crash.
Both individuals who were riding the motorcycle were taken to a hospital for emergency treatment. Police later confirmed that one of the riders succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The condition of the second motorcyclist has not yet been released.
At this time, authorities have not made the identity of the deceased public, stating that they will withhold the name until the victim’s family has been informed.
