Daniel Huss Obituary, Death – A fatal motorcycle crash occurred Monday morning on Interstate 40 in Wake County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP). The incident took place around 9:40 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-40, close to the interchange with I-540.

The NCSHP reported that the motorcyclist, identified as 27-year-old Daniel Huss from Durham, was riding at high speeds and maneuvering recklessly through traffic just before the accident. According to investigators, Huss was weaving between vehicles when he collided with the back of a tractor-trailer. Authorities believe excessive speed played a significant role in the collision.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, but Huss succumbed to his injuries. No additional injuries were reported in the crash.

Due to the severity of the incident, four out of five eastbound lanes of I-40 near I-540 were closed to traffic while authorities investigated the scene and cleared the wreckage. The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced that all lanes reopened shortly before 11 a.m., roughly an hour after the crash occurred.

The NCSHP continues to emphasize the dangers of aggressive and high-speed driving, especially for motorcyclists, who are at greater risk of serious injury or death in crashes. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
