Carrie Smith-Gagne 0bituary, Death – A serious crash in Fort Fairfield on Tuesday resulted in the death of one individual and left three others with critical injuries, according to local authorities. The collision occurred shortly after 10 a.m. on Limestone Road. Police say the crash happened when a car unexpectedly crossed over the centerline and struck an SUV traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the SUV, identified as 60-year-old Carrie Smith-Gagne of Limestone, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries. Her passenger, 72-year-old Pierre Gagne, also of Limestone, sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

The other vehicle involved in the crash carried two occupants, 25-year-old Amber Turcotte and 37-year-old Casey Clayton, both also from Limestone. Both were transported to the hospital with critical injuries, though authorities have not yet confirmed which of the two was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

As of now, the exact cause of the crash and the events leading up to it are still under investigation. Police have not released any further details and are working to determine what may have caused the car to drift into the opposite lane.
