Fatuma Yussuf Sharif-Isaack Obituary, Death – A fatal rollover crash in the north metro Tuesday evening claimed the life of a Twin Cities woman and left two others injured. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred just before 6:30 p.m. on westbound Interstate 694 near Highway 10. Investigators said 21-year-old Fatuma Yussuf Sharif-Isaack was driving when her vehicle veered from the right lane across traffic into the left shoulder, striking a guardrail.
The impact caused the vehicle to roll over and collide with another car before coming to a stop. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and Sharif-Isaack was transported to Hennepin Healthcare. Despite medical efforts, she died from her injuries. Authorities noted that she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the severity of her injuries.
Two passengers in Sharif-Isaack’s vehicle were also hurt in the incident. A 21-year-old woman from Brooklyn Park and a 20-year-old woman from Fridley were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The other vehicle involved in the collision was driven by a 41-year-old woman from Maplewood. She was the only occupant in her car and escaped the crash without injury.
The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing to investigate the exact circumstances leading to the accident, including the reason Sharif-Isaack’s vehicle crossed lanes. Officials have not yet released further details on possible contributing factors such as speed, weather conditions, or driver distraction.
This tragedy serves as another reminder of the importance of seat belt use, which authorities consistently stress as one of the most effective measures in preventing fatalities during vehicle crashes. As the investigation proceeds, the community mourns the loss of a young woman whose life ended abruptly on a busy metro highway.
