Carol Waldman, Amanda Reidling Obituary, Death – Two women lost their lives and five others were injured in a serious multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday night in Delaware County, Ohio, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
The collision occurred on U.S. Route 23 in Orange Township at approximately 8:30 p.m. Investigators said the incident began when a 2018 Dodge Ram traveling south crossed the center line into the northbound lanes. The truck first collided head-on with a 2021 Toyota Venza before continuing forward and striking a 2025 Honda Accord head-on. The Ram eventually came to a stop against a guardrail. Both the pickup truck and the Accord caught fire as a result of the impact.
Inside the Toyota Venza, two passengers — 64-year-old Carol Waldman and 54-year-old Amanda Reidling — sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The Venza’s driver and a fourth passenger suffered serious injuries and were transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital.
The driver of the Dodge Ram also sustained serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
The Honda Accord involved in the second collision carried a driver and an 8-year-old passenger. Both sustained only minor injuries and did not require hospitalization, OSHP reported.
Authorities have not released further details about what may have caused the Dodge Ram to veer into oncoming traffic. Investigators said the circumstances leading to the crash remain under active review.
OSHP is working to determine whether speed, impairment, distraction, or another factor played a role in the deadly sequence of events. The agency noted that the crash caused significant traffic disruptions on U.S. 23 for several hours as crews responded to the scene, provided emergency medical care, extinguished the vehicle fires, and conducted their initial investigation.
The tragic accident has deeply impacted the community, particularly the families and friends of Waldman and Reidling, who were both passengers in the Venza and whose lives were cut short unexpectedly. Officials are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution, remain alert, and obey traffic laws, especially on high-speed roadways where a single moment of inattention can have devastating consequences.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has relevant dashcam footage to contact them as the investigation continues.
