At that point, Mitchell allegedly drove directly toward officers, striking 26-year-old Hunter Simoncic. Simoncic was critically injured in the collision and quickly transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center. Despite medical intervention, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
