According to university officials, Brown had been playing basketball with others at the on-campus recreation center when he suddenly collapsed. Emergency medical personnel were immediately called to the scene. Responders performed urgent medical procedures in an effort to stabilize him before transporting him to MUSC Health Orangeburg, where he was later pronounced deceased.
