Aiden Manuel Martinez  Obituary, Death – The Temple Police Department has released information identifying the individuals involved in two related traffic incidents on Interstate 35 that occurred early Thursday morning and resulted in two deaths.

According to police, the first incident took place in the northbound lanes of I-35 during the early morning hours. A 20-year-old man from Rogers, Texas, was driving when his vehicle unexpectedly left the roadway for reasons that have not yet been determined. Authorities said the vehicle came into contact with a roadway barrier and was left disabled in a travel lane on the highway.

While the vehicle remained stopped on the roadway, a second northbound vehicle later made contact with it. Emergency responders were called to the scene, and the driver of the disabled vehicle was pronounced dead. Another individual involved in the initial crash was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said those injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Temple police officers were already present at the location of the first crash when they received additional reports of another traffic collision on the same stretch of interstate. This second incident occurred farther north near an exit ramp as traffic had become heavily congested due to the earlier crash.

When officers arrived, they found that two commercial vehicles had been involved in a collision. Preliminary findings indicate that one tractor-trailer struck the rear of another that had slowed or stopped because of backed-up traffic. Authorities believe the congestion caused by the first crash played a role in the conditions that led to the second incident.

The driver of the second commercial vehicle involved in the later crash, a 41-year-old man from Laredo, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that no other injuries were reported in connection with this second collision.

Both incidents prompted a significant emergency response, including police, medical personnel, and roadway crews. Portions of Interstate 35 were impacted for several hours as investigators worked to document the scenes and ensure the roadway could be reopened safely. Motorists traveling through the area experienced delays while cleanup and traffic management efforts were underway.

Authorities have stated that both crashes remain under investigation. As part of the review process, officials typically assess roadway conditions, traffic flow, vehicle movement, and other contributing factors. At this time, no additional details have been released regarding the cause of either incident.

Police are using the events as a reminder to drivers about the importance of staying alert, especially when traveling at night or through areas where traffic may suddenly slow or stop. Officials encourage motorists to reduce speed when approaching congestion, follow posted warnings, and remain attentive to changing road conditions to help prevent further accidents.

Additional information may be shared by authorities as investigations continue and reports are finalized.
