Authorities have identified the woman who died following a crash Thursday morning near Sugar City. Madison County Coroner Sam Butikofer confirmed that the victim was 68-year-old Terri Allen of Burley.
According to a news release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, emergency dispatchers began receiving multiple calls around 10:20 a.m. reporting a collision near mile marker 339. First responders quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and provide assistance.
Investigators say the crash involved a semi-truck pulling a pup trailer and a passenger vehicle. For reasons that remain under investigation, the two vehicles collided. Authorities reported that both vehicles left the roadway and went through a nearby fence as a result of the impact.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that Allen was driving the passenger vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was treated at the scene by medical personnel and did not require transport to a hospital, according to officials. No additional injuries were reported.
Several agencies responded to assist with the incident, including Madison County Fire, Idaho State Police, the Idaho Transportation Department, and the Rexburg Police Department. Crews worked to secure the area, manage traffic, and begin the investigation into what led to the collision.
Officials have not yet released further details about the cause of the crash. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation is ongoing, and more information may be shared once it becomes available.
