James Eaton, Bicyclist Dies After Crash on Illinois Highway 37 in Franklin County.

Authorities in Franklin County are investigating a crash that resulted in the death of a bicyclist on Saturday. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews received a 911 call reporting a traffic collision on Illinois State Highway 37 near Ewing Road. The caller indicated the crash involved a single vehicle and a bicyclist.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene, along with personnel from the Ewing Northern Fire Department and AMR Ambulance. Upon arrival, first responders found the bicyclist with serious injuries.

Officials reported that the driver and passenger inside the vehicle were not injured.

The bicyclist was later identified as 43-year-old James Eaton. He was transported to Franklin Hospital and subsequently transferred to Deaconess Hospital for further treatment. Authorities confirmed that he died shortly after arriving at the second medical facility.

Sheriff Kyle Bacon stated that the crash remains under active investigation. No additional details regarding the circumstances of the collision have been released at this time.
