Authorities have identified a woman who died after an early Saturday morning incident along Interstate 10 in San Antonio. According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, 39-year-old Perla Grimaldo died from multiple blunt force injuries. The medical examiner’s office classified the manner of death as a homicide.
The San Antonio Police Department reported that officers were initially dispatched around 3:30 a.m. Saturday to the 11000 block of I-10 westbound following reports of a crash involving multiple vehicles.
Preliminary findings from police indicate that Grimaldo was allegedly involved in the earlier collision. Authorities said she then entered the westbound lanes of Interstate 10, where she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Police stated that the driver of the vehicle that struck Grimaldo stopped at the scene, rendered assistance, and cooperated fully with investigators. Emergency responders transported her to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Officials reported that the driver did not show signs of intoxication at the time of the incident. No charges have been announced as of Tuesday.
The San Antonio Police Department continues to review the circumstances surrounding both the initial crash and the subsequent incident on the highway. Investigators have not released additional details, and the case remains active.
