Authorities in Queen Creek are investigating a fatal chain-reaction crash that occurred Friday night near the intersection of Riggs and Ellsworth roads.

According to the Queen Creek Police Department, a sports car was traveling at a speed exceeding 130 miles per hour before the collision. Investigators say the vehicle, driven by 20-year-old Kyle Campbell, crashed and was forced into the westbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a sedan.

Campbell was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the sedan, identified as 25-year-old Eduardo Chavez Diaz, was removed from the vehicle and transported for medical treatment but later died from his injuries.

Police said a woman and two children who were passengers in the sedan were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Authorities confirmed that the children were properly secured in child safety seats at the time of the crash.

A third vehicle was also involved in the incident. The driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization, according to police.

Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and emphasized the broader impact such incidents have on the community.

“These incidents are profoundly significant and deeply impact families, friends, and our community,” Brice said. “While the investigation remains ongoing, tragedies such as this serve as a reminder that the decisions we make behind the wheel can have life-altering and irreversible consequences.”

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including speed and contributing factors. Authorities have not released additional details as the case remains under active investigation.

Police are urging drivers to obey posted speed limits and practice safe driving habits to help prevent similar incidents. Officials say updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
