Authorities in Alamo are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of a local resident early Friday morning.

According to the Alamo Police Department, officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian around 3:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Frontage Road, near Alamo Rec and RV Park. When authorities arrived, they located a man who had been struck by a vehicle.

Police later identified the victim as 43-year-old Ismael Alemán, a military veteran who was known within the community. Officials said he died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Investigators say the driver involved did not remain at the location and left the area immediately after the collision. Authorities believe the vehicle involved may be a gray or silver Nissan Rogue.

According to police, the SUV is expected to have visible damage to the front-right bumper and may also have a broken passenger-side mirror. Detectives believe these details could help members of the public identify the vehicle.

Officials are urging residents and nearby business owners to review surveillance cameras or security footage recorded between 3:15 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on Friday. Any images or video that may show a vehicle matching the description could help investigators track down the driver.

Authorities also ask anyone who may have seen a Nissan Rogue with recent damage or suspicious repairs to the front-right side to contact the Alamo Police Department.

Police say community cooperation can play a critical role in solving cases like this and helping bring answers to families affected by tragedy.

As the investigation continues, an important question remains: could a tip from someone in the community help authorities locate the vehicle and bring closure to this case?
