Authorities have identified the woman who died in a vehicle collision in Ravenel on Saturday night as 69-year-old Phyllis Miller, according to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.
The crash involved an SUV carrying Miller and three other passengers, and a pickup truck operated by 44-year-old Ricardo Hernandez-Martinez. Deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office say the pickup truck pulled in front of the SUV while attempting to cross the southbound lanes, resulting in the SUV striking the truck.
Miller was pronounced dead from her injuries at the scene. The three other occupants of the SUV were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Hernandez-Martinez was uninjured and has been arrested and charged with felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury or death.
