Authorities report that a 17-year-old student has died following an accident at Rocksprings High School on Sunday evening.
The Edwards County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred around 5:32 p.m. on March 7 near the school track. Officials reported that the accident involved equipment being moved in the area, during which the student was tragically injured.
The victim has been identified as Samson Reyes, a junior at Rocksprings High School. Several staff members from the Rocksprings Independent School District were present at the time. Authorities confirmed that no other injuries were reported.
Investigators are collecting statements from those on the field and are reviewing available video footage to understand the circumstances of the accident. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to determine the exact sequence of events.
