Edward Escolas Obituary, Death – A deadly fire in Altamont, Kansas, late Thursday night claimed the life of a 61-year-old man. The fire broke out around 10 p.m. in the 500 block of S. Huston Avenue, where local fire and police departments responded to the emergency. By the time they arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames.
The victim, identified as Edward Escolas, was found dead inside the building. In response to the tragedy, the Kansas State Fire Marshal and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation joined local authorities to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Several surrounding departments, including those from Parsons, Oswego, Cherryvale, and Coffeyville, provided mutual aid. The Labette County Sheriff’s Department also assisted in managing traffic around the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
