Lacresha Black Obituary, Death – Police have identified a woman killed in a shooting Monday morning in Springfield Township and released more information on the suspect who died after a pursuit and shooting involving police. It all started early Monday morning when officers with the Springfield Township Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on Lincoln Avenue.
Officers at the scene found a woman, identified as 33-year-old Lacresha Black, lying outside the front door of her house with multiple gunshot wounds.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the suspect in the shooting as 42-year-old Terea Brown, saying she fled the scene before officers got there.
Information on the suspect was broadcast out to other law enforcement agencies.
Detectives in the case learned Brown had fled to Clinton County, Indiana, where she was involved in a pursuit with Indiana State Police. As the pursuit came to an end, Springfield Township Police said a gunshot was fired from Brown’s vehicle, followed by shots fired from troopers.
Brown was pronounced dead following the pursuit and shots fired.
According to NBC affiliate WTHR, no troopers were injured in the incident.
An ISP spokesperson told WTHR the situation began an on the interstate and ended at a gas station near the State Road 28 (Frankfort) exit.
The spokesperson said at least one shot was fired during the incident, and investigators are still determining who fired the initial shot. The spokesperson said it wasn’t immediately clear if the suspect was shot by police.
