Van Dyke Obituary, Death – A man has died from injuries sustained in a stabbing that occurred over the weekend at a bar in the Kerns neighborhood of Portland. The Portland Police Bureau reported that the incident took place just before midnight on Saturday at Church Bar, located at 2600 Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered 31-year-old Samuel M. Van Dyke from Portland, who was suffering from severe injuries to his neck. Initially, it was believed that Van Dyke would survive the attack. However, despite the early prognosis, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The stabbing occurred following a verbal altercation between Van Dyke and 28-year-old Abraham Bravo, also of Portland. Police investigations revealed that Bravo used broken glass to stab Van Dyke in the neck. The confrontation and ensuing violence escalated quickly, leading to the fatal injury.

After the stabbing, police were able to locate Bravo not long after the incident. At the time, Bravo was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with second-degree assault in connection with the attack. However, with Van Dyke’s death, the charges against Bravo were updated. He now faces more serious charges, including first-degree manslaughter and first-degree assault, reflecting the fatal outcome of the altercation.

As the investigation continues, authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the conflict that led to this tragic event. The incident has left the community shaken, as a verbal disagreement escalated into a fatal stabbing, underlining the dangers of unresolved conflict.
