Braden Caldwell Obituary, Death – A 15-year-old suspect is in custody after a shooting at the WeGo bus hub in downtown Nashville on Tuesday afternoon left 16-year-old Braden Caldwell dead, according to Nashville Police.

At approximately 4 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Elizabeth Duff Center at WeGo Central, located on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered that the two teenagers had been involved in a physical altercation on the second floor of the station, which escalated into gunfire. During the altercation, Caldwell was shot twice. He was quickly transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Police were able to identify the suspect with the help of WeGo security staff, who were familiar with the 15-year-old. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene and headed toward 5th Avenue North. He was located and taken into custody at a home on University Court just before 7 p.m.

The 15-year-old suspect, who has not been named due to his juvenile status, is facing charges of criminal homicide in juvenile court. Police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding the confrontation that led to the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have expressed their concern over the growing incidents of youth violence, but have not provided specific information about the motive behind the altercation.
