James Owens Obituary, Death: Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Guilford County Sheriff’s Vehicle in Greensboro, Police Report

James Owens Obituary, Death – A pedestrian was killed in a crash involving a vehicle registered to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday evening, according to Greensboro police.

At approximately 5:07 p.m. on November 20, Greensboro police responded to a report of a pedestrian involved in a collision on U.S. 29 North, near McKnight Mill Road. Upon arrival, authorities found that 58-year-old James Owens of Greensboro had been struck by a 2011 Ford Edge, which was registered to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say Owens allegedly stepped into the path of the vehicle, which was traveling on U.S. 29. Despite efforts to respond to the scene, Owens was pronounced dead at the location of the crash.

The Greensboro Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the incident to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. The investigation remains ongoing.
