Daneilla Samiento, Chris Salazar Obituary, Death – An early morning fire in Big Spring claimed the lives of two individuals on Thursday. According to a statement from Fire Marshal Hendrickson, the Big Spring Fire Department responded to the blaze in the 1400 block of Park Street at approximately 2:34 a.m.
When the first firefighting crew arrived, flames were visible at the rear of the single-story home. Two occupants, later identified as 41-year-old Daneilla Sarmiento and 37-year-old Chris Salazar, were found inside the residence. They were transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center but tragically succumbed to their injuries.
The Big Spring Fire Department deployed three fire trucks, along with the Battalion Chief and the Fire Marshal, to combat the fire. By 8 a.m., the fire had been extinguished, and emergency crews cleared the scene.
Fire Marshal Hendrickson confirmed the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical heating device. Investigators noted there were no working smoke detectors in the home at the time, highlighting a critical safety issue that may have contributed to the severity of the incident.
This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety measures, including the use of functioning smoke detectors, to prevent similar losses in the future.
