Raheem Dawkins Obituary, Death – thorities have identified 18-year-old Raheem Dawkins as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on the south side on Friday afternoon. The Columbus Police Department responded to a reported shooting at approximately 1:01 p.m. in the 2900 block of Southfield Drive.

Upon arrival, officers found Dawkins suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Grant Medical Center for emergency care but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:32 p.m.

At the scene, another adult male came forward and identified himself as the shooter. He claimed that he acted in self-defense, stating that Dawkins had been assaulting him at the time of the shooting.

While investigators are continuing to examine the events leading up to the incident, police stated that their preliminary investigation has not uncovered a clear motive. The shooter is cooperating with authorities as the investigation progresses.
