Hasham Camel Obituary, Death – A tragic multi-vehicle crash in Vallejo on Monday afternoon resulted in one fatality and left three others injured. The collision occurred at the intersection of Ascot Parkway and Sterling Street around 4:45 p.m. and involved three vehicles.
The deceased victim, identified as 63-year-old Hasham Camel, was a passenger in one of the involved vehicles. According to the Solano County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office, Camel succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital. The identity of his city of residence was not provided.
The accident began when the driver of a 2004 gray Toyota Solara, traveling northbound on Ascot Parkway, lost control of the vehicle. The Toyota crossed the center median and collided with a 2009 white Chevy Traverse, which was heading south on Ascot Parkway. The force of the crash caused the Traverse to be pushed into a 1992 blue Nissan Sentra, which was also traveling southbound. All three vehicles ended up at the intersection, and the drivers and passengers remained at the scene following the crash.
Camel was riding as a passenger in the Toyota Solara at the time of the incident. Both the driver of the Toyota and the driver of the Chevy Traverse, along with a juvenile passenger in the Traverse, were transported to the hospital with injuries. However, the three occupants of the Nissan Sentra declined medical treatment at the scene.
The Vallejo Police Department reported that, at this stage, there is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather more details about the events leading up to the collision.
This incident marks the ninth traffic-related fatality in Vallejo for 2024, continuing a concerning trend of deadly accidents in the area.
