Danny Lee Scott Obituary, Death – A Morganton man tragically lost his life in a crash involving a dump truck on Sunday evening, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Highway 64 near Fisher Davis Road in Burke County.
The victim, 64-year-old Danny Lee Scott, was driving a Chrysler 300 when he attempted to turn left onto Highway 64 in front of an approaching Ford dump truck. The collision resulted in Scott’s death at the scene. His wife, who was a passenger in the car, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital in Morganton for treatment.
The driver of the dump truck was also hospitalized, though his injuries were reported as minor. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated the crash and determined that neither speed nor impairment were factors contributing to the incident. As a result, no charges are expected to be filed against anyone involved in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, but authorities have ruled out excessive speed or alcohol impairment as potential causes.
