The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 26-year-old Sara Llorens from Burlington, Vermont, exited her car after the collision, which then became engulfed in flames.
However, while Llorens had exited the vehicle, she was found later on the northbound shoulder of the Thruway, deceased. Investigators determined that Llorens had been struck by an unknown vehicle in the northbound lane after leaving her car.
