Angelina Camillia Gonzales Obituary, Death – The family of 17-year-old Angelina Camillia Gonzales, who was fatally stabbed last week, is raising funds for her funeral through a GoFundMe page, along with hosting a car wash and bake sale this weekend. Angelina, a cheerleader at Azusa High School, was tragically found dead from stab wounds at her ex-boyfriend’s house on Friday.
According to the family, the suspect, an 18-year-old man whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently in custody. The case has been forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for further investigation.
Angelina’s stepfather, Robert Caraballo, recounted the painful moment he arrived at the scene. He said, “When I got there, there was already crime scene tape up and forensics and all kinds of stuff. And I ran up to the officers like, hey, my daughter’s in there. You know, my daughter is in there I’m trying to find her. She’s not home. And that’s when they told me, sit aside for a minute.”
The victim’s brother, Ruben Torres, also shared his grief, describing Angelina as a “sweet and loving, funny person” and expressing disbelief over the tragedy. “It’s unreal, like just the fact that you know, anyone could bring themselves to harm just such a sweet and loving, funny person,” Torres said.
Angelina had recently joined the Azusa High wrestling team and was looking forward to celebrating her 18th birthday on January 7. The assault occurred at around 10 p.m. on Friday in the 300 block of North Soldano Avenue, near Third Street and west of Azusa High School West Campus. Azusa Police officers responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon, where they found Angelina suffering from multiple stab wounds.
She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the stabbing. Both the suspect and the victim were residents of Azusa.
As of Monday, the family had raised nearly $8,000 through their GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses. In addition, they are organizing a car wash and bake sale at the VFW in Azusa this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to raise additional funds for the funeral.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating the case, has asked anyone with information about the stabbing to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
