Daniel Farrar Obituary, Death – A fatal multi-vehicle crash on New Year’s Eve is under investigation by the Houston Police Department (HPD). The incident occurred at approximately 6:25 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the 12500 block of the North Freeway.
According to investigators, the collision began with a minor crash involving three vehicles. While traveling southbound, a gray Tesla swerved to avoid the initial crash and stopped partially on the left shoulder of the freeway. The Tesla’s driver managed to avoid hitting other vehicles and remained at the scene.
The situation took a tragic turn when 49-year-old Daniel Farrar, riding a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle, approached the stopped Tesla at a high speed. A female passenger, identified as a 46-year-old woman, was also on the motorcycle. Farrar was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of the Tesla, resulting in both him and his passenger being ejected from the motorcycle.
Farrar was pronounced dead at the scene, marking a tragic end to the evening. His passenger survived but was transported to a hospital, where she remains in stable condition, according to HPD.
The driver of the Tesla, who cooperated with authorities, showed no signs of intoxication and was questioned and released. Police have stated that the investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
