Zymia Baughens, Denijah Granberry Obituary, Death – Two 16-year-old girls from Athens tragically died in a traffic accident on Monday morning in McDuffie County. The victims have been identified by Coroner Paul Johnson as Zymia Baughens and Denijah Granberry.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the girls were passengers in a 2015 Dodge Journey that was traveling north on Georgia Highway 17/Washington Road. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into several trees, resulting in fatal injuries for the two teenage passengers.
The driver of the vehicle, a juvenile, was unharmed in the crash. However, both Baughens and Granberry sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by 11 a.m. The incident has been ruled a tragic accident.
