Evelyn Belton Obituary, Death – The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a woman who was fatally stabbed in Okolona over the weekend. The victim, 43-year-old Evelyn Belton, was found by Louisville Metro Police Department officers at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, in the 8000 block of Red Cedar Way.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Evelyn suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite the efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later that evening, police apprehended 50-year-old Jamie Belton, who was found at a rest stop in Midway. He was arrested and charged with murder in connection to his wife’s death. Court records indicate that the couple was married but living separately at the time of the incident.
The Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed that this marks the first homicide of 2025 in the area.
