Honor Ward, Beau Liddell Obituary, Death – Honor Ward, Beau Liddell Obituary, DeathHonor Ward, Beau Liddell Obituary, DeathTwo teenagers in Australia tragically drowned at Wappa Falls after one attempted to rescue the other, authorities confirmed. On Sunday, Jan. 19, a girl and a boy, both 17, were found dead at a waterfall in Yandina, located on the Sunshine Coast. The incident unfolded when the girl fell into the water and failed to resurface. In an effort to save her, the boy, an acquaintance, also jumped in but did not return to the surface.

The Queensland Police reported receiving a call around 2:30 p.m. about the girl’s fall. A search and rescue operation began shortly after, involving the Queensland Fire Department and police divers. Approximately 40 minutes later, emergency services found the girl unresponsive in the water. The search continued for the boy, who was located deceased around 7:25 p.m. The police are preparing reports for the coroner regarding both deaths, and Wappa Falls remains closed during the ongoing investigation.

The teenagers were identified as Honor Ward and Beau Liddell. Beau’s father, Adam Liddell, described his son as selfless, stating Beau always prioritized others over himself, exemplified by his attempt to save his friend. Honor’s friend, Phoebe Loynd-Andersson, spoke of Honor’s supportive nature, always encouraging and being there for others despite her own challenges.

Concerns about safety at Wappa Falls have been raised, with Adam Liddell suggesting that more preventive measures, beyond simple warning signs, are necessary to avoid similar tragedies. Recent heavy rainfall may have exacerbated the dangerous conditions at the site, which already features warnings about heavy currents, deep water, and submerged boulders.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Beau’s family with funeral expenses, garnering around $1,300 so far. The incident has left the community mourning the loss of the two young lives and reflecting on the need for increased safety measures at the waterfall.
