Kathy Mae Davis Death News – The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal car crash that occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, February 9, 2025, near the Crossroads Apartments on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park.
At approximately 2:29 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a 2015 Nissan Armada and a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found that the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 59-year-old Kathy Mae Davis of Lexington Park, had suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the preliminary investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit, both vehicles were traveling in lane two of Great Mills Road heading toward Westbury Boulevard. The Nissan, driven by 20-year-old Zykera Sharnae Shubrooks-Nunley of Lexington Park, reportedly rear-ended the Chevrolet. The force of the impact caused the Chevrolet to veer off the road, hit a telephone pole, overturn, and eject Davis from the vehicle.
Authorities believe that speed and driver error contributed to the deadly collision. Shubrooks-Nunley was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Her current condition has not been disclosed.
The sheriff’s office has called for public assistance in the investigation. Witnesses who observed the crash or events leading up to it are urged to contact Corporal Jason Smith at 301-475-4200, ext. 2328.
As the investigation continues, the tragic accident has highlighted the dangers of excessive speed and reckless driving. The local community mourns the loss of Kathy Mae Davis, a resident of Lexington Park, whose life was tragically cut short.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reminds drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic safety rules to prevent similar incidents.
