Karen Joseph Obituary, Death – A tragic accident in St. Bernard Parish claimed the life of a Chalmette woman on Thursday night. Authorities are investigating the fatal collision that occurred on Louisiana Highway 39 near Plaza Drive.
According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers responded to the scene around 8 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. The victim was later identified as 66-year-old Karen Joseph of Chalmette.
Preliminary findings indicate that Joseph was walking north along the highway when a Toyota Camry approached the intersection in the right lane. Officials report that Joseph stepped into the car’s path in an area without a designated crosswalk. As a result, the vehicle struck her, leading to severe injuries.
Emergency responders transported Joseph to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
