According to reports from the Youngstown Police Department, officers were called to the scene at approximately 7:55 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival at the apartment, police officers found 37-year-old Nestor Diaz suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen. Despite efforts from both the responding officers and emergency medical technicians to render aid and save his life, Diaz was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Early findings in the case suggest that the stabbing was the result of a dispute over property between the victim and the suspect. Authorities identified the suspect in the case as 38-year-old Camilo Barreto.

Following the discovery of Diaz’s death and initial investigation, detectives were able to gather information that led them to believe Barreto had fled the area. Their investigation revealed that Barreto had traveled to the Pittsburgh region following the stabbing.

With the assistance of law enforcement in Pennsylvania, including the Baldwin Borough Police Department near Pittsburgh, Barreto was located and taken into custody. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he is currently being held.

Barreto now faces a charge of murder in connection to the death of Nestor Diaz. He will remain in custody in Pennsylvania while awaiting extradition back to Ohio to face the charges against him.
