Dianna Bocanegra Obituary, Death – A 40-year-old woman was tragically killed after her vehicle was struck by a big rig on the eastbound lanes of the I-10 Freeway in Whitewater, according to authorities. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Thursday morning, west of Haugen-Lehmann Way, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The woman, identified as Dianna Bocanegra, was driving eastbound on I-10 in a Volkswagen Jetta when, for reasons that remain unclear, she collided with a concrete guardrail. This left her vehicle disabled in the third and fourth lanes of the freeway. Shortly after the crash, a 22-year-old man from Imperial County, who was driving a Peterbilt big rig, struck the left side of Bocanegra’s Jetta.
Paramedics responded to the scene but were unable to revive the woman, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity as Dianna Bocanegra, a resident of Ontario.
The big rig driver was assessed by paramedics at the scene, but neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected to have played a role in the collision. The CHP is continuing its investigation into the fatal crash. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information about the incident to contact the San Gorgonio Pass CHP office at 951-846-5300.
