Amanda Castillo, aged 35, was recognized by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. The identity of a second victim involved in the crash remains unknown.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to the northbound freeway just south of Roxford Street at 10:41 p.m. on May 29, as reported by CHP Officer Carlos Lopez.

They discovered that a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee had collided with a trailer attached to a semi-truck, resulting in a fire and the deployment of its airbags, according to the CHP.

Firefighters extinguished the flames; however, Castillo and another individual in the Jeep lost their lives.

The semi-truck also suffered significant damage, but its driver was unharmed, according to a report from the scene.

“This is a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two motorists,” stated CHP Capt. E. A. Krusey. “Our hearts go out to the families affected by this devastating loss. We are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine what happened.
