Kelvin Bernard Fernanders, Linda Greene Obituary, Death – Two individuals lost their lives in distinct motor vehicle accidents on Thursday in the vicinity of Gaffney, as reported by Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler.
A pickup truck driver was heading north on Concord Road shortly before 5:30 p.m. when the vehicle veered off the road, hit a ditch, and subsequently overturned, according to Fowler.
Fowler stated that the victim was trapped inside the vehicle and succumbed to injuries at the scene.
The deceased driver has been identified as Kelvin Bernard Fernanders, 49, from Gaffney.
The second deadly incident took place at the intersection of S.C. Highway 150 North and Grassy Pond Road at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, as per Fowler’s report.
Fowler noted that a car was traveling east on Grassy Pond Road when it entered the path of a pickup truck heading south on S.C. 150.
The passenger in the car was transported to Cherokee Medical Center in Gaffney, where she later passed away, Fowler indicated.
The victim has been identified as Linda Greene, 77, from Boiling Springs, North Carolina.
It remains unclear whether her husband, 84-year-old Richard Greene, sustained any injuries in the accident.
Autopsies will be conducted on both victims to aid in the investigation of the fatal accidents, Fowler stated.
