Henry “Hank” Brown Obituary, Death Cause – Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a hit-and-run accident over the weekend in Rochester. The victim was 70-year-old Henry “Hank” Brown, a longtime resident of the city.
According to Capt. Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department, the fatal incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday. Brown was crossing South Union Street near Buena Place when he was struck by a passing vehicle. He lived just nearby on Union Street and was believed to be heading home at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported Brown to Strong Memorial Hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital due to the injuries sustained in the collision.
Police said the driver of the vehicle did not stop and fled the scene immediately after hitting Brown. Authorities are now treating the case as a hit-and-run and are actively working to identify the driver responsible.
Brown was a well-known figure in Rochester’s East End community. For more than 30 years, he worked as a doorman at Salinger’s Pub on East Avenue. His friendly presence and longstanding service made him a familiar and beloved face to many patrons and residents in the area.
Currently, no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed in connection with the incident. The Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation into Brown’s death.
