Amber Calicoat, Abigail Hill Obituary, Death Cause – Two people lost their lives in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred late Sunday afternoon on Highway 395 near Loon Lake, Washington. The Washington State Patrol (WSP) responded to the crash, which took place around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 395 and Sunset Bay Road.

According to WSP, the accident involved three vehicles. Two of the vehicles were traveling northbound on Highway 395 toward Granite Point. One of the drivers attempted to pass the other vehicle by using the right shoulder of the road. During the maneuver, the passing car sideswiped the other northbound vehicle, causing both vehicles to veer into the southbound lane of the highway.

Once in the southbound lane, one of the northbound vehicles collided with a third car that had been traveling in the opposite direction. The second northbound vehicle, after crossing into the southbound side, crashed into a tree.

The crash resulted in the deaths of two individuals. The victims were identified by WSP as 43-year-old Amber Calicoat and 21-year-old Abigail Hill. In addition to the two fatalities, two other individuals sustained injuries during the incident. Details on the extent of those injuries have not yet been made public.

WSP reported that neither Calicoat nor the driver of the second northbound vehicle was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Authorities indicated that failure to use seatbelts may have contributed to the severity of their injuries. The driver who made the illegal pass and initiated the crash is facing possible charges, though the specific charges are still under review.

Investigators are actively working to determine all of the contributing factors in the deadly wreck. WSP has confirmed that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, though they have not yet released which driver or drivers may have been impaired.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution on highways, emphasizing the importance of obeying traffic laws and always wearing seatbelts. The tragic accident has left a community grieving and raised renewed concerns about reckless driving and impaired operation of vehicles on Washington’s roadways. Further updates will be provided as the investigation develops.
