Nolan Christensen, Sofia Christensen Obituary, Death – Two teenagers lost their lives and a young child was injured in a tragic crash that took place in Wise County, Texas, early Monday morning, according to state authorities. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that state troopers responded to the scene at approximately 6:44 a.m. The collision occurred at the intersection of County Road 4011 and U.S. Highway 380.
Based on preliminary findings, investigators say a blue Ford F-150 attempted to cross Highway 380 from County Road 4011. As it pulled into the intersection, it was struck by a Freightliner truck that was towing a trailer. The Freightliner then jack-knifed and overturned, coming to rest in the center median of the highway. The Ford was pushed off the road and came to a stop on the grassy shoulder on the south side of the highway.
Inside the Ford truck were three siblings, identified by the Wise County 4-H club and Decatur Independent School District. The passenger, 13-year-old Nolan Christensen, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 16-year-old Sofia Christensen, was transported to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Their younger sister, 12-year-old Ella Christensen, was also taken to the hospital, but officials have not yet released her condition.
The community of Decatur and local organizations have expressed their support and sympathy for the Christensen family. Ahead of a scheduled school board meeting, a district official offered a prayer for the grieving family, as well as classmates, friends, and teachers affected by the tragedy. “We lift up the family of the impacted students in this tragedy,” the official said. “Help us to carry one another in the pain we are feeling in this moment.”
The Freightliner’s driver, 33-year-old Jose Feliz Rodriguez, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The crash is currently under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal collision. No further information has been released at this time.
