The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Bobby R. Kidd Jr., also of Monroeville. According to officials, Kidd was driving a 2014 Hyundai Elantra when his vehicle collided head-on with a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500. The Dodge Ram was being operated by 59-year-old Henry J. Cook, who is also from Monroeville.
Authorities reported that Kidd was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which contributed to the severity of his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding personnel. The lack of a seatbelt is believed to have played a significant role in the fatal outcome.
Henry Cook, the driver of the Dodge Ram, was injured in the crash and was transported to North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette for medical care. Additionally, Cook’s passenger, 61-year-old Rita R. Filler from Foley, sustained injuries and was taken to South Baldwin Hospital in Foley for treatment. The nature and extent of their injuries were not detailed, but both were reported to be receiving care at their respective medical facilities.
The crash occurred around noon on Monroe County Road 45 near Byrd Lane, a rural stretch located roughly 12 miles south of Frisco City.
