Corrina Mckenzie Guitron Obituary, Death – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman killed in a wrong-way crash on Highway 58 as 40-year-old Corrina Mckenzie Guitron, a resident of Ridgecrest, California. The deadly collision occurred on the afternoon of June 18, 2025, around 1:31 p.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of a serious vehicle accident on Highway 58, just west of Highway 202, near the city of Tehachapi.
According to CHP investigators, the crash involved a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction. Guitron, driving a Jeep, was reportedly heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 58 at the time of the incident. At the same moment, a Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling properly in the eastbound lanes of the highway, when it collided head-on with Guitron’s Jeep.
The impact of the crash was severe, and Guitron, who was the sole occupant of her vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional passengers were reported in her Jeep. The driver of the Ram 1500 sustained injuries in the collision and was transported to Kern Medical Center for treatment. The current condition of that driver has not been publicly released.
Authorities have not yet determined what may have caused Guitron to enter the wrong side of the highway. It is unknown whether factors such as impairment, distraction, or a medical emergency played a role. The CHP is continuing its investigation and is working to reconstruct the events that led to the fatal crash.
CHP officers have requested assistance from the public. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant information about Guitron’s movements before the crash is asked to contact the CHP Mojave Area office at (661) 823-5500. Witness statements may help provide clarity about how the crash occurred and whether any additional contributing factors were involved.
This incident has brought attention once again to the dangers of wrong-way driving, a problem that, while relatively rare, often results in serious or fatal injuries due to the high-speed nature of head-on impacts. Local authorities are urging drivers to remain alert, especially on high-speed roadways like Highway 58, and to report any vehicles observed traveling in the wrong direction immediately by calling 911.
As the investigation continues, friends and family of Corrina Mckenzie Guitron are mourning her sudden and tragic death. No funeral or memorial service details have been released to the public at this time.
The California Highway Patrol is expected to release further updates once the full investigation is completed, including any toxicology results and findings that may help explain how this tragedy occurred.
