Jermaine Stubbs, Hope Bryant Obituary, Death Cause – Fayetteville police confirmed Saturday night that a third person had died following a serious car crash that occurred Friday afternoon. The collision, which initially claimed two lives, has now left three people dead, with another individual critically injured.
According to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department, the accident happened shortly after 4:25 p.m. in the 1400 block of Cedar Creek Road, near the intersection with LA Dunham Road. The crash site is located roughly one mile west of Interstate 95.
Authorities say the crash involved two vehicles: a Dodge Charger traveling north and a Honda heading south on Cedar Creek Road. Investigators believe the driver of the Charger, identified as 42-year-old Jermaine Stubbs of Fayetteville, lost control of the vehicle. The car then crossed the center line and collided head-on with the oncoming Honda.
Stubbs and his front-seat passenger, 41-year-old Hope Bryant, also from Fayetteville, were pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the impact.
The driver of the Honda, identified as 51-year-old Marcia Adair-Davis of Fayetteville, was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for emergency treatment. Tragically, she later succumbed to her injuries.
A third occupant in the Dodge Charger sustained critical injuries in the crash and was also transported to a local hospital. No update on that individual’s condition has been provided as of now.
Investigators believe that excessive speed played a significant role in the accident. While the exact speed has not been confirmed, police said preliminary evidence suggests the Charger was traveling too fast for road conditions at the time it lost control.
As the investigation continues, Fayetteville police are working to determine whether any other factors contributed to the crash, such as mechanical issues or distractions. At this time, no charges have been filed, and no additional identities have been released for those involved aside from the three deceased.
The Fayetteville Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information that could assist in the investigation to contact Detective J. Deal at (910) 584-3692.
This devastating accident has deeply impacted the Fayetteville community, as all three victims were local residents. Friends, neighbors, and family members are grieving the sudden and tragic loss of life resulting from the crash.
Authorities are urging drivers to be mindful of speed limits and to exercise caution on local roads, especially in areas with high traffic or frequent turns. The fatal incident serves as a grim reminder of how quickly a routine drive can turn deadly.
As police continue to gather evidence and reconstruct the accident, additional details may be released in the coming days. For now, the community mourns the loss of three lives taken far too soon on Cedar Creek Road.
