Linda Cox Obituary, Death – A woman from Linton lost her life and five others, including two young girls, were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday in rural Madison County, Indiana.
The accident took place near the intersection of County Roads 1900 North and 200 West, close to the Madison-Grant County line. This location is approximately two miles west of Madison-Grant Junior/Senior High School and State Road 9.
According to a Friday update from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, 34-year-old Rebecca Madley was driving along 1900 North with her two daughters, ages 13 and 10, when the collision occurred. As Madley approached the intersection, a red pickup truck pulled into her path after reportedly failing to stop at the crossing, resulting in a violent crash.
The driver of the red pickup, 54-year-old Linda Cox of Frankton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Madley was critically injured in the crash and was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for emergency treatment.
The impact of the collision also caused serious injuries to the other individuals involved. Madley’s two daughters were transported to a hospital in Anderson. The 10-year-old girl suffered broken bones and was later transferred to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis for specialized care. The 13-year-old was treated in Anderson and has since been released.
Two additional passengers were inside the pickup truck at the time of the crash: 39-year-old Brandon Pollard and 31-year-old Emily McBroom. Both were flown to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. As of Thursday evening, McBroom remained in critical condition, while Pollard’s condition was reported as stable.
Investigators from the sheriff’s department are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Early reports suggest the pickup truck’s failure to yield at the intersection was a contributing factor. Authorities have not indicated whether weather, road conditions, or other variables played a role in the incident.
