Javier Rios, Javier Rios Obituary, Death – A tragic car crash over the Fourth of July weekend claimed the lives of a 24-year-old man from Jurupa Valley and an 18-year-old woman from Eastvale, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau.
Authorities identified the deceased as Javier Rios and Sabrina De Lara. The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene following the early-morning collision that occurred around 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a traffic accident near Limonite Avenue and Beach Street. Upon arrival, they found two vehicles involved in the crash, both blocking the eastbound lanes of Limonite Avenue, just west of Beach Street.
One of the vehicles, a van, was carrying multiple unrestrained passengers at the time of the accident. Two of those passengers, later identified as Rios and De Lara, had visible injuries and were declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel. Other passengers in the van, along with both drivers, were transported to nearby hospitals with various injuries, though their conditions have not been disclosed.
After an initial investigation at the crash site, authorities arrested the van’s driver, 23-year-old Bryan Cruz-Arenas of Jurupa Valley. He was taken into custody and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Cruz-Arenas faces two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and one count of DUI causing death or injury. His bail was set at \$75,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court at 8 a.m. on Wednesday in Riverside.
Due to the severity of the crash, investigators closed Limonite Avenue between Bain Street and Beach Street for nearly nine hours, reopening the road just before noon. The extended closure allowed law enforcement to document the scene and collect evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Officials have not yet released further information about what led to the crash or how the collision unfolded. However, authorities confirmed that intoxicated driving played a role in the tragic outcome. The case serves as a somber reminder of the dangers of impaired driving, particularly during holiday weekends when road traffic tends to increase.
