Cody M. Wells Obituary, Death News – A single-vehicle rollover crash northwest of Beaver City in Furnas County claimed the life of the driver and left a passenger with minor injuries. The incident was reported to Furnas County 911 around 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 17. Emergency responders from multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene near the intersection of Road 713 and Road 427.

Upon arrival, deputies from the Furnas County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency personnel found a 1994 Oldsmobile in a ditch on the west side of the road. Inside the vehicle were two occupants: the driver and a passenger.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Cody M. Wells of Beaver City, was critically injured and had to be extricated from the wreckage by rescue teams. The passenger, whose identity has not been released, sustained only minor injuries.

Despite the prompt response and life-saving efforts by medical teams on-site, Wells succumbed to his injuries before he could be airlifted for further treatment. An air ambulance from Apollo Medflight Nebraska had been prepared to transport him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe that Wells was heading southbound on Road 417 when he lost control of the vehicle. The Oldsmobile veered off the road and rolled, coming to rest in the ditch. Preliminary findings indicate that excessive speed was a primary factor in causing the crash.

It was also determined that neither Wells nor the passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. However, authorities noted that alcohol does not appear to have been involved.

Alongside the Furnas County deputies, emergency teams from Beaver City Fire and Rescue, Beaver City EMS, Phelps County Advanced Life Support, and Apollo Medflight Nebraska assisted at the crash site. Their combined efforts focused on providing medical care, extracting the occupants from the vehicle, and securing the area for investigation.

This tragic accident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with speeding and the importance of wearing seat belts. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, but no additional contributing factors have been reported at this time.

The community of Beaver City is mourning the sudden loss of Cody Wells, a young resident whose life was cut short in the fatal rollover. Authorities have not released any information regarding funeral arrangements or statements from the family.

As the investigation wraps up, local officials may renew public safety campaigns to promote safe driving practices, especially for younger drivers, in an effort to prevent future tragedies on rural roads.
