Adam John Peterson  Obituary, Death – Minneapolis police have confirmed that one of the victims from a shooting earlier this week has died from his injuries, adding to the toll of violence in the city. Authorities identified the deceased as 46-year-old Adam John Peterson, who passed away Saturday while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The shooting that claimed Peterson’s life occurred Monday morning near East Lake Street and Stevens Avenue South. Around 11:10 a.m., officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area. When police arrived, they found five men suffering from gunshot wounds. All of the victims were transported to local hospitals for medical care. Peterson’s death makes him the first fatality from the incident.

Investigators said the gunfire took place in multiple spots. Shots were first reported near the Greenway, followed by more gunfire on the walkway close to the highway offramp leading to East Lake Street and Stevens Avenue. Police are still working to piece together what sparked the violence and how the events unfolded. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

The incident is part of a troubling string of shootings in the same area. Just hours later on Monday, a separate shooting erupted at a homeless encampment near East Lake Street and 28th Street. That gunfire left seven people injured. Among those victims was 30-year-old Jacinda Oakgrove, who died from her wounds two days later on Thursday while being treated in the hospital. Police said no arrests have been made in that case either.

The two back-to-back shootings have heightened concerns in Minneapolis about gun violence and public safety. Both incidents involved multiple victims, and in each case, at least one person lost their life. The lack of arrests so far has also added to unease, as investigators continue to pursue leads and gather evidence to identify those responsible.

Authorities have not yet said whether the two shootings were connected or if they were separate incidents that happened to occur within a short timeframe and in close proximity. Detectives are working to determine possible motives, identify suspects, and build cases with the evidence gathered from the scenes.

The deaths of Peterson and Oakgrove underscore the devastating human impact of the violence. Peterson, at 46, and Oakgrove, just 30, were both taken too soon, leaving their families and communities grieving. The shootings also injured more than a dozen others, some of whom continue to recover from their wounds.

Police have appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information about either shooting to come forward. They emphasized that community cooperation is critical in solving these cases and bringing justice to the victims and their loved ones.

For now, both shootings remain active investigations. City leaders and law enforcement officials have acknowledged the urgent need to address rising violence, while families of the victims wait for answers and accountability.
