Aileen Cruz Obituary, Death News – Authorities have released the identity of one of the two people found dead after a house fire in Southwest Miami-Dade last week. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the victim was identified on Monday as 58-year-old Aileen Cruz. Her death was confirmed just days after the tragic incident, which unfolded on Friday morning in the Kendall neighborhood.

The fire broke out around 9 a.m. at a home located in the 10800 block of Southwest 67th Drive. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the scene after reports of heavy smoke. Upon arrival, firefighters worked quickly to contain the flames. Once the fire was extinguished, crews entered the residence and discovered the bodies of two individuals inside.

Neighbors recalled seeing smoke rising from the house before emergency vehicles arrived. One neighbor described the intense response from firefighters, noting their struggle to get inside. “I saw the firemen try to open the shutters, but they couldn’t. So they started working on the door, the one where you could see the smoke coming out from the top. They had to rip it off the frame to get inside,” the neighbor recounted.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation is now in the hands of their arson detectives, who will work to determine what sparked the blaze. Officials have not yet shared whether they suspect foul play.

The identity of the second victim remains unknown, and authorities have not released any details about their relationship to Cruz or whether they lived in the home. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct autopsies on both victims to determine the exact cause of death.

The fire and its aftermath have left the Kendall neighborhood shaken. Residents say the home was a familiar sight in the area, and news of two fatalities has stunned the community. While investigators have not provided a timeline for when more information will be available, they emphasized that determining the fire’s cause is a priority.

This case remains an active investigation, and more details are expected as detectives and forensic teams complete their work. Until then, neighbors and family members are left with unanswered questions about what led to the fire and the tragic loss of life inside the home.
