Albert Castanon Obituary, Death – The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified the young man who lost his life in a motorcycle crash that occurred east of downtown Colorado Springs on Friday, June 20. According to a report from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the victim has been identified as 18-year-old Albert Castanon.

CSPD officers were dispatched to the scene of the crash at approximately 12:45 p.m. The collision occurred in the 2300 block of East Bijou Street, in the vicinity of Platte Avenue and North Circle Drive. Upon arrival, officers found that the rider of the motorcycle, later confirmed to be Castanon, had already succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the crash happened when a Nissan passenger vehicle was traveling south through an alleyway and attempted to make a left turn to head eastbound onto East Bijou Street. While making the turn, the Nissan moved into the path of the motorcycle, which struck the car on the driver’s side. The force of the collision proved fatal for the motorcycle rider.

Due to the serious nature of the crash, CSPD’s Major Crash Team took over the investigation. Authorities say the inquiry remains active and ongoing. As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident, and investigators are continuing to gather evidence to determine exactly what led to the fatal crash.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office officially identified Castanon the day after the accident, on Saturday, June 21. The news of the teenager’s death has deeply affected the community, especially given his young age. Friends, family, and community members have expressed grief and condolences for the loss of a promising life cut tragically short.

Officials have not yet released information regarding the speed of either vehicle at the time of the crash or whether any other factors—such as visibility, road conditions, or distraction—may have contributed to the incident. Police are also working to determine whether Castanon was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The area where the crash took place is a busy corridor with a mix of residential and commercial properties. Local residents have raised concerns in the past about traffic safety in the area, particularly at alley intersections where visibility can be limited.

As the investigation continues, the Colorado Springs Police Department is urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to come forward and assist with the case.

Meanwhile, the community remembers Albert Castanon as a young man whose life ended far too soon. Tributes have been posted on social media, and a memorial may be organized in his honor.

The CSPD and El Paso County officials will provide updates as the investigation develops and more details become available regarding the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
