The fatal shooting occurred late Thursday night, around 11:40 p.m., in the 9000 block of Compton Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies responded to reports of gunfire and found Gonzalez Magana lying on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moments later, another vehicle approached the scene—possibly intending to help the injured victims. At that point, the suspects allegedly turned their attention to the new arrivals and carjacked their vehicle before fleeing the area. The suspects were last seen driving north on Compton Avenue in a light-colored Acura.

The Sheriff’s Department has not released any suspect descriptions, and the suspects remain at large as the investigation continues.
